Alligator JackIf you're looking for me, you'll usually find me near my camp in front of the palisade.
MePalisade?
Alligator JackJust continue west from here and you'll see what I mean.
Alligator JackWho on earth are YOU? You don't look like the others.
MeWhat others?
Alligator JackWell, the mages who are hanging around those ruins over there.
Alligator JackAre you one of that bunch, then?
Alligator JackBrave thing to run around here by yourself.
MeWho are you?
Alligator JackI'm sure you've heard of me before.
Alligator Jack(proudly) I'm Alligator Jack.
Alligator JackFeared all over the country. I'm one of the most dangerous pirates around here.
Alligator JackTogether with Cap'n Greg I've boarded more merchant vessels than I count.
Alligator JackYou're looking at a living legend here.
MeDo you know a fellow named Raven?
Alligator JackOf course. He's the leader of the bandits to the east.
Alligator JackWhat's your business with HIM?
Alligator JackI've got a better idea.
Alligator JackCome and join us.
Alligator JackThat'll give you time to think about it.
Alligator JackOnce you've tried our good home-brewed rum, things will look very different.
MeI've got to kill him.
Alligator Jack(laughs) What? YOU? How are you going to do THAT?
Alligator JackIsn't that guy way out of your league?
Alligator JackYou won't even get close to him. The bandits he's surrounded himself with will skin you alive first.
Alligator JackYou won't even get past their first outpost.
Alligator JackThe way you look, those bandits will get itchy fingers when they spot you a mile away.
MeI want to join him.
Alligator Jack(slyly) Is that so?
Alligator JackBut you don't look at all like someone who would want to join those crackpots.
MeI need a bandit's armor.
Alligator JackWhat would you do with THAT?
Alligator JackIt'll only get you into trouble if you're seen with it.
Alligator JackEveryone's going to take you for a bandit and will try to kill you.
MeSounds good ...
Alligator JackYes, but only to someone who's suicidal.
MeDo you have any idea where I could find armor like that?
Alligator JackWe used to have one in our pirate camp.
Alligator JackBut I don't know whether it's still there.
MeYour captain's name is Greg?
Alligator JackRight. He's the greatest pirate the sea ever spawned.
MeI think I know your captain. I met him in Khorinis.
Alligator Jack(laughs) Greg? In Khorinis? Nonsense!
Alligator JackGreg is out at sea after booty with some of the lads.
Alligator JackThe only thing that could bring Greg to Khorinis would be one of the King's prison galleys.
Alligator JackHe's one of the most wanted men in the land.
Alligator JackHe'd never march into town voluntarily and have the royal guard throw him into prison.
MeIf you say so.
MeWhere's your pirate camp?
Alligator JackSee the cave passage over there? Go through it and continue west, and you'll come to our beach sooner or later.
Alligator JackThat's where our log huts are.
Alligator JackI can take you there if you want, if you do me a favor first.
MeWhat would that be?
Alligator JackI'll have to get the boys some meat before I can go back to camp.
Alligator JackYou're a strong fellow.
Alligator JackI could use your help hunting. Interested?
MeWhat is it you hunt?
Alligator JackOnly alligators, usually. But they're no good for eating.
Alligator JackAnd there aren't any left around here anyway.
Alligator JackSo I take what I can find: swamp rats.
MeWhat?
Alligator JackMost beasts around here taste like old socks, or they're as tough as alligator meat.
Alligator JackThose fat swamp rats are the only thing that is remotely edible.
MeTell me more about you pirates.
Alligator JackWe've been living here for years. Back before the war, everyone knew us from here to the mainland.
Alligator JackOur flag alone would spread terror among the crews of merchant vessels.
Alligator JackBut those times are past now. It's been weeks since we've run into a merchant vessel.
Alligator JackOur Cap'n Greg left to try and catch another.
Alligator JackThe rest of us are sitting here in camp, twiddling our thumbs until he comes back.
Alligator JackI hope he'll bring back lots of booty.
MeLet's go hunting.
Alligator JackAll right. With two people, that's child's play.
Alligator JackAre you ready?
MeYes.
Alligator JackGreat. Just stay right behind me.
MeNo, not yet.
Alligator JackHurry up, then.
Alligator JackThe hollow.
Alligator JackThere should be some of those beasts around here.
Alligator JackFollow me.
Alligator JackI was afraid of that.
MeWhat?
Alligator JackThis handful of beasts here is only about half of what I need.
Alligator JackNow we'll have to enter the canyon.
Alligator JackWatch out, it's very dangerous deeper down in the canyon.
Alligator JackIf you hold your life dear, stay very close to me.
MeWhat IS there in the canyon?
Alligator JackWe avoid that area if it's at all possible.
Alligator JackThat's where you find razors. Tough beasts, those. Stay away from them if you want to live another day.
MeFine, let's go.
Alligator JackAll right.
Alligator JackCome on.
Alligator JackSay, can you tell me what I took you along for?
Alligator JackYou didn't kill a single swamp rat.
Alligator JackOh well. Maybe you can be useful some other way.
Alligator JackWell done, we can use someone like you.
Alligator JackYou brought down one of those beasts on your first hunt. Not bad.
Alligator JackYou're a talented hunter.
Alligator JackMy goodness! If you continue like that, I'll be able to stay in camp next time.
Alligator JackHere, take this swamp rat meat to lazy old Morgan.
Alligator JackYou'll find him in our camp.
Alligator JackHe's probably lounging on the beach somewhere. He'll be waiting for this.
Alligator JackHenry usually guards the entrance to the camp and keeps a lookout for bandits.
Alligator JackIf he refuses to let you in, just tell him that I sent you.
Alligator JackMaybe that'll make him a bit more sociable.
Alligator JackHenry is a little too eager and a bit bossy, too.
MeDo you know Angus and his friend Hank?
Alligator JackI haven't seen them in a while.
Alligator JackAnd I wouldn't mind if the pair of them never came back.
MeWhy?
Alligator JackOh, those bums always hung around the lake, scaring off the game.
MeWHAT lake would that be?
Alligator JackRemember our hunt?
MeYep.
Alligator JackThe lake in the hollow. That's where I usually saw them.
Alligator JackThe lake in the big hollow.
Alligator JackJust walk east from our camp. You can't miss the hollow.
Alligator JackThere's lots of little waterfalls there.
Alligator JackBut watch out - if there's nothing but dry sand underfoot, you've missed a turn and entered the canyon.
MeCan you teach me something?
Alligator JackSure, I'm a good hunter and I can show you how to skin animals and pull their teeth.
Alligator JackI'll teach you if you like.
Alligator JackBut first show me that you're ready for the hunt.
Alligator JackOnce we've been out hunting together, I might do it.
MeTeach me!
Alligator JackWhat is it you want to learn?
Alligator JackAlways make the cut at the belly, or the quality will suffer.
Alligator JackAll right then.
MeLet's go hunting.
MeCome along.
MeI no longer need you.
